Lack of nutritious food and high levels of disease have created a need for new approaches to tackling the twin problems of malnutrition and food security.
Innovating production of healing foods, Lapit Coop Food Lines is a cooperative which produces a line of locally-produced, nutritious foods.
Lapit Coop is currently producing two peanut-based products. Lapit’s primary product is Odii pa Maa, a nutritionally formulated paste used to treat malnourished children and adults.

Women who work in the Gulu-based cooperative are able to partially support themselves and their children with money earned from the cooperative.
The women also have an opportunity to learn new skills in project management, marketing and production.
