About

boywbookEducational Resources for Africa (ERA) was founded to provide books and learning materials to rural Africa, with the goal of empowering communities through education.

ERA also supports innovative community-based grassroots projects. ERA’s mission is to apply and innovate smart global solutions with local impact.

Why ERA?

There is one thing which can consistently chip away at the myriads of challenges Africa faces: education.  ERA can and will make a big difference by providing the critical resources for not only basic education but also to college level.

The book famine in rural Africa cripples learning to rote efforts at the expense of developing critical thinking and the powers of imagination. ERA comes with the needed resources to put rural Africa - where the majority of its population lives - into the 21st century.

Grassroots Project: Food for Life

Putting knowledge in action, ERA is supporting a project designed to empower women in producing a food supplement. Food for Life, a product line of nutritious foods, has begun with Odii pa Mama, a remarkable food substitute for highly malnourished children and adults.

Cross-Cultural Exchange

Bridging rural Africa and America, ERA is a natural facilitator of cross cultural exchanges. From Denver, Colorado where ERA is based, to Northern Uganda, where ERA founders Albert and Marcellina Otii hail from and beyond, ERA’s mission includes stewardship of global citizenry for people of all ages.
